Choosing your crop

Choose your crop depending on the shape of your face. A short crop places a lot more emphasis on your jawline which, thus far, has been hidden among your long locks. Pixie cuts suit oval and round faces, while a bob (a short or long one) can add or subtract inches from a square or long face.
We recommend: The pixie if you’re feeling adventurous or the lob if you’re looking for a change.
Styling for short hair

Depending on whether you’re blessed with curls, waves or straight hair your entire styling routine will need an overhaul. As opposed to long hair which can hang loose irrespective of the occasion and outfit, short hair is in need of serious styling. This means re-investing in serums, oils, hair sprays, curlers and straighteners that can help you make the most of your short locks.
We recommend: TIGI Dumb Blonde Smoothing Stuff to give the perfect finishing touch.
Maintaining your hair

The most popular misconception about a short haircut is that it requires minimal investment. Contrary to the belief, it’ll require a lot more TLC than your tresses. So while you won’t spend more than five minutes styling your hair in the morning, you’ll definitely have to spend a weekend scheduling a trim and hair treatments to ensure that your short crop looks just as short just as gorgeous months after you got it.
We recommend: A trim every month, a weekly hair massage with the Dove Elixir Nourished Shine Hair Oil.
Transition

You have to exercise all the patience you can when your hair finally begins to grow out. Pin back those flyaways, invest in the best hair accessories and most importantly, visit your hair stylist to get advice on what you should do to your hair next. The current popular trend is to grow your pixie into a bob (shape it with regular trimming) and the bob into a lob. Either way, short hair will always need styling to ensure it doesn’t grow out to look like a messy mop.
We recommend: The Toni&Guy Finishing Shine Spray to hold your in-between hair in place.
Spoilers

You can’t rely on your hair to tower over your your body, face or blouse anymore. Neither can you wear it as an accessory. You’ll definitely think twice before wearing an Indian outfit, and if you finally choose to, you will need to style your hair heavily. Getting bored of short hair is not really an option, so you’re going to have to stick it out and wait for it to grow till you can experiment with it again.
