What is it?

It’s just as simple as it sounds–a stencil is used to spray a certain design on hair.
From polka dots to floral motifs, this stencil hair art has become quite the talking point on social media and is being touted as the summer music festival hair trend to watch out for on the other side of the globe.
Who started it?
The trend was started by Janine Ker, an artist and hairstylist from a salon in the US who strongly believes that art can be depicted anywhere. She first sketches out her designs using colour pencils on a canvas and then turns them into hair art using stencils.
What are the popular designs?
When it comes to stencil hair art, the options are endless. But our personal favourites are…
For the love of romance

If love drives your life, tiny hearts on the side of your head on poker straight hair look pretty darn cute.
For the joy of subtlety

If you don’t like bold artwork on your hair, you can opt for a simple yet cute floral design like this.
For the polka dot fanatics

If you have a fetish for everything polka-dotted, it’s time to try it on your hair! Try it in different colours and your hair will be as attractive as ever.
