We are well into week 3 of self-quarantining, and it already feels like ages of being in isolation. Having to stay cooped up in your homes all day can take its toll on you; both physically and emotionally. There are only so many shows you can binge on to kill your boredom. Also, your body is devoid of movement and exercise. It is so important to keep fit and stay moving during this 21-day lockdown, especially if you want to keep your spirits high. Lack of activity can lead to anxiety and lethargy, none of which will help you to get through these trying times. We won’t act fancy and give you a number of push-ups to do every day. Instead, here are 5 fun things you can do to keep fit while you are quarantined!
- Dancercise
- Play with your pet
- Get moving by playing games
- Make cooking fun
- Participate in social media challenges
Dancercise

We are women of our word and are not going to tell you to exercise an hour a day. But, it is essential to get some movement in. This can be done by plainly dancing around the house. You can also pick from the 2345 YouTube tutorials that give you dance workouts in the form of Zumba, Belly Dancing, Hip-Hop, Bollywood and many other styles. Take your pick and blast that music in the house, but only if your neighbours are okay with it!
Play with your pet

Trust us when we say this, staying at home is as new for your pet as it is for you. Their adorable faces are confused about why you are home and would want to spend all that time together. Don't ignore them and instead keep busy by playing indoor games with them.
Get moving by playing games

If you are spending your lockdown days with your family, get them to play games that will get your body moving! Whip out the whiteboard for at-home Pictionary or act out the best of entertainment in a game of Charades. If you are as competitive as I am, a single round of being on the losing team with get your adrenaline pumping!
Make cooking fun

One of my personal mantras in life is that while cooking can feel like a chore, it can always be tweaked and turned into a fun activity. Spending time in the kitchen is a great stress buster and ends up in delicious home-cooked food being on the menu. Try out healthy recipes full of greens, pulses and fibre. Cook with a partner and try to do everything by hand. Roll one piece of dough for roti and watch those arms tone up!
Participate in social media challenges

Social media has been instrumental in keeping people connected during lockdown. In order to boost morale, influencers are coming up with challenges that people can do and bond over. Take your pick from workout challenges like the 10 push-ups challenge or the many TikTok dance challenges that are already a viral phenomenon.
