With summer approaching, we’re sure you gals are itching to grab your magazines and sunnies to head down to the beach. If you are anything like us and are big on beach vacations, then we understand your need to ace beach makeup. To help you look your best self, we’ve compiled some easy-peasy tips to keep your makeup perfect throughout the beach day.
- Skip the foundation
- Bronzer to ace them beach pictures
- Waterproof everything
- Highlight > bronzer
- Go au-naturel with the lips
- Pick up some blotting paper
Skip the foundation

A beach day is not the time to go for full coverage—you don’t want to find your foundation running in streaks down your skin. Instead, why not opt for a tinted moisturiser or a BB Cream to give you a natural glow? Tinted moisturisers or BB Creams also have the added benefit of SPF so you’d be getting double the sun protection! Which, you will absolutely need!
If foundation is a must for you, make sure that you stick to a thin layer. When you rub foundation onto the back of your hand before applying it with a brush, the sheer look that you achieve will ensure that you don’t look like a clown by the end of the day.
Bronzer to ace them beach pictures

With the sun constantly beating down your face, wearing a shimmer bronzer will make you look like Edward Cullen when he steps out into the sunlight. However, beach makeup seems incomplete without the naturally tanned look that the bronzer gives you—which is why we have two words for you: matte and more matte.
As powder never seems to stay in place at the beach, choosing a cream bronzer is a much better option. Apply it to hollows of your cheekbones, close to your hairline and lastly on the tip of your nose! We suggest, take the trouble only when you are getting picture ready!
Waterproof everything

This is a no-brainer. Concealer, mascara, eyeliner, if there’s a waterproof option take it. You won’t have to stress about sweat or runny makeup—trust us, the investment is worth it.
Highlight > bronzer

We all need a little bit of sparkle in our lives. While bronzer may be too much for a beach look, strategically placed highlighter goes a long way. All you need to do is place a subtle sheen to the tip of your nose and cheekbones and the sun will do the rest of the work.
Go au-naturel with the lips

Wearing a full-on lipstick may clash with the whole sun-kissed and radiant look you’re going for, so opting for a subtle lip stain or lip balm may be more appropriate for the beach. Rub it in with your fingers to let it blend seamlessly with your natural lip colour.
Pick up some blotting paper

You’re going to sweat—it’s inevitable. So, this will become your new best friend at the beach. With only your small power-covered compact as your mirror, touching up your makeup may not really be an option. By simply getting rid of the excess oil and sweat, you ensure that your makeup doesn’t melt off your face.
