Almond Eyes
A majority of eyes are shaped like almonds. In order to accentuate this shape, use darker eye shadows to contour the eye’s crease in order to add depth to your eyes. We love the way Lakmé Absolute Drama Stylist Shadow Crayon in Grey or the Lakmé Absolute Drama Stylist Eye Shadow Duos in Purple Haze look. You can even choose to blend in a dark shade with a shimmery beige such as the one found in the Desert Rose palette from the Lakmé 9to5 Eye Colour Quartet. Follow this up with a matte black liner (we highly recommend the Lakmé 9 to 5 Black Impact Liner) and if you’re looking for some added drama, wear an extended cat-eye that’ll exaggerate the naturally extended shape of your eyes.
Monolid Eyes
Hooded eyes are also known as monolid eyes thanks to them not possessing a discernible eye fold or crease. With these eyes, you have to work hard to create the illusion of depth. Opt for matte instead of shimmer as the latter tends to make them look puffier. Apply a deep toned matte eye shadow (we love all of the colours from Lakmé’s Absolute Drama Stylist Eye Shadow Duos range, but Blue Shadow, Pink Wink and Purple Haze are bound to be the best bet for monolid eyes) on the area where the crease ought to be and blend away any lines. Complete the effect by smudging some shadow along your lower lash line and then open up your eyes with generous amounts of the Lakmé Eyeconic Curling Mascara to add volume.
Round Eyes
Is your eye circular in shape and larger than usual? Congratulations, you’ve been blessed with round eyes. The trick to doing up round eyes is to soften their appearance. To achieve this, downplay their roundness by using a liner to line only the upper lash line. If you’ve got an unsteady handy rely on the Lakmé Eyeconic Liner in Black or Brown (here’s a quick guide), and if you’re a total pro, the fantastic Lakmé Absolute Gel Addict Liner in Grey Ash or Black is your best bet for max output in a single stroke.
Small Eyes
The trick to making smaller sized eyes look larger is not to make too many defined lines since it can actually draw attention to the size of the eye. Keep the eye makeup blurry choosing instead to line your eyes with a kohl pencil – the Lakmé Absolute Kohl Ultimate Kajal is the one we swear by – and focus on the outer corners. Then using a Q-tip or a shadow brush gently smudge the outer corners for a much softer effect.
Big Eyes
Make the most of your large peepers by showing them off flawlessly. Opt for a deep matte shade of eye shadow from the palette of Lakmé Absolute Drama Stylist Duos range to create a warm stare (big eyes can give the impression of you coming across as intimidating, even if you’re not). If you’re headed to a wedding or a soirée where need to be dressed up, choose the Bronze or the Grey shades from the Lakmé Absolute Drama Stylist Shadow Crayons. In the case where you don’t want to play around with too much colour, just draw a thick line across your top lid with the Lakmé Absolute Glide-On Eye Colour in Metallic Black, then use a brush to smudge this into your lash line and over your eyelid. Follow it up by rimming your lower inner rims with eyeliner (preferably black) and connect the top and bottom line on inner and outer corners in order to close up large eyes.
