How to nail the smudged eyeliner look: Step-by-step guide

Who does not love the good ol’ eyeliner? Whether you prefer a simple cat eye or something a little more edgy like a graphic eyeliner, you need to agree that eyeliners can level up just about any makeup look.

The most recent eyeliner look to have caught our fancy is the smudged eyeliner. This eyeliner trend has a really casual, lived-in vibe and when done right, can make you look effortlessly sexy. But we understand that recreating that perfectly smudged look can be a little challenging, especially if you are an eyeliner newbie.

But don’t worry, here’s a quick and easy smudged eyeliner tutorial that can be recreated in less than two minutes!

Step 01: Start with applying a little bit of the Lakme Absolute White Intense Liquid Concealer all over your lid. Blend it out to create an even base.

Step 02: Now, depending on your skin tone, take a neutral brown or beige eyeshadow from the Lakme Absolute Infinity Eye Shadow Palette - Soft Nudes and apply it all over your lid. But remember to not extend the colour beyond the lid. This will give your eyes a lot more depth.

Step 03: Next, it is time to apply your eyeliner. For the smudged eyeliner look, we recommend you steer clear of liquid eyeliners as they can be difficult to smudge and have a higher chance of looking messy. Instead, opt for a pigmented pencil eyeliner such as the Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate Kajal – Black and create a thin, precise line — keeping as close to the lash line as possible.

Step 04: Using the smudger provided at the other end of the kohl pencil, gently smudge the eyeliner out. The key is to be super gentle and quick because once the eyeliner dries up and settles onto your skin, it will be tough to smudge.

Step 05: For the final step, start with curling your lashes and then finish it off with applying two coats of the Lakme Absolute Flutter Secrets Volumizing Mascara to open your eyes and make them look wider.
