Whether it is a formal presentation you are attending or a cocktail party you are headed to, no makeup look is complete without a touch of eyeliner. A single swipe of liner has the potential to transform you completely from the doe-eyed damsel to the sultry vixen. With the number of eyeliners available, it can get confusing as to how we can go about applying the different textures. That’s why we’re getting back to basics to show you how to apply liquid eyeliner and gel eyeliner.

Liquid eyeliner

Formed of a liquid consistency, this type of eyeliner applies smoothly on the eye. The texture of the eyeliner can make it tricky to apply but steady hands and the right product make it a breeze. The liquid eyeliner that we trust our eye makeup with is the Lakme Absolute Gloss Artist Eye Liner, Black. Its high colour pay-off lends a jet black stroke to our eyes with a glossy finish while its unique applicator makes it an easy task.

Step 1

Take the brush from the Lakmé Absolute Gloss Artist Liquid Eyeliner between your thumb and pointer finger while resting your pinky finger on your cheekbone

Step 2

Begin drawing a line from the inner corner of your eyes where your lashes begin.

Step 3

Using small strokes, continue to draw a line while staying as close to the lash line as possible.

Step 4

Draw the line until the outer end of your eye and join any blank spots with liner for a full, lush liner of eyeliner

Gel eyeliner

Gel eyeliner consists of a thick gel-like consistency, which uses a narrow brush for application. Its thick yet smooth texture makes application easy, especially when just learning the makeup basics. For gel eyeliner, we turn to the Lakmé Absolute Gel Addict Eyeliner. The gel consistency goes well on the eye and since it is smudge-proof and long-lasting, it will stay put all day long.

Step 1

Dip the attached brush of Lakmé Absolute Gel Addict Eyeliner in the pot between your thumb and pointer and rest your pinky finger on your cheekbone.

Step 2

Use the brush to start applying the eyeliner from the inner corner of your eye, right from your tear duct.

Step 3

Use long, slightly thick strokes to try for the liner to be straight and continue till the outer end of the eye, where you can create a small triangular wing.

Step 4

At the end, fill in the winged area and go over the lash line once more so that no blank spots appear.
