FIVE WAYS TO PLAY UP YOUR FRENCH MANI
From Paris circa the 1920s, the French manicure has come a long, long way. We’ve all worn it to weddings, dinners, brunches and even while bumming around on a weekend at home. But, as much as we hate to admit it, the classic-ness of the plain white and nude can get a tad bit boring. That’s why we got together with expert Swarnalekha Gupta and rounded up a few ideas on ways to play up your French mani... read on!

The classic French mani

Super old school but a perfect fit for any occasion, we’re all loyal to our classic French mani. Brides steering clear of the red and maroon are sticking by this manicure even on their wedding day! If you’re trying to keep it chic and classy, this is the way to go. Needless to say, we approve!

The alternative French mani

A popular variation of the French mani, you’ll find this on the nails of all the trendsetters… if they’re trying to play it safe!—with white tips but a different colour on the nail bed. The current trend is to play with pretty pastels as your principle colour keeping the two nail shades close to each other.

As the name suggests, switch your two colours to wear the French mani in reverse. We’re been spotting a lot of these going around town with a white or a nude nail bed (the latter is more popular) and hot tips. Purple, red and black seem to be the colours du jour.

The multi-coloured French mani

Who said that French manicures had to be white, right? As long as we’re colouring within the outlines, we’re playing by the rules. Our personal favourite, the multi-coloured French manicure with contrasting shades that may or may not gel allows you make some talon trendy nail art that’ll surely make heads turn.

Whether you’re a bride or someone who likes to put their glitz on display, there’s no better place to wear it than your tips. Bejewelled finger nails with stick-on nail art, glitter polish and rhinestones make for bling-tastic hand accessories at engagements and weddings, whether you’re the bride or not.
