5 SKIN CARE TIPS EVERY BRIDE SHOULD FOLLOW TILL HER WEDDING DAY
Being a bride means having to juggle a lot of things. The endless list of chores often leave you with little sleep and lots of stress and yet, you need to ensure that your skin looks flawless on your big day. Wondering how you can improve your skin care routine, if you’re a bride-to-be? BB spoke to skin care expert and dermatologist Dr. Aparna Santhanam to give us a monthly breakdown...

3 Months before: Visit a dermatologist

10 days before: Pay attention to your diet

You might be the one to follow a skin care routine that involves Cleansing-Toning-Moisturising but you might still have certain skin woes that you haven’t catered to yet. This is the perfect time to attend to these problems. Dr. Aparna suggests, “It’s necessary to sort your skin problems out at least 3 months before the wedding by visiting a dermat. Do this so your makeup looks flawless on your big day. Besides, certain treatments like laser hair removal need to start at least 4-6 months before, so it’s always better to see a dermat a little before your big day to know your options.”

2 months before: Opt for special skin care services

10 days before: Pay attention to your diet

You know how you always wanted to try that facial so you glow on your big day? Well, 2 months prior is the perfect time to get this done as a part of your skin care routine! Explains Santhanam, “The reason you need to start any service like chemical peels or facials 2 months prior is for you to know in advance how your skin is reacting to such treatments. So make sure you get all this done much before the big day.”

1 month before: Test the makeup

10 days before: Pay attention to your diet

You’ve been hoarding on makeup but you think you’ll open it on your big day, right? No! The right way to go about this is to start using the makeup you wish to a month prior to your wedding. Dr. Santhanam tells us why, “Besides knowing what your look will be like and whether the shade works for you, you need to ensure that the makeup you’ve purchased suits you. You don’t want any reactions or problems last minute.”

15-20 days before: Refrain from trying anything new

10 days before: Pay attention to your diet

While you want your skin to look spotless, it is also necessary to avoid trying anything new before the wedding. Dr. Aparna suggests, “People will bring a lot of products for the bride and you might come under pressure to try them out. But refrain from doing so at least 20 days before the wedding because you never know how your skin reacts to something new.”

10 days before: Pay attention to your diet

10 days before: Pay attention to your diet

Sure, you ought to watch your diet at least a year before your big day but you must understand that it is absolutely important to ensure that you up your intake of proteins and antioxidants 10-15 days before the wedding. Dr. Santhanam says, “Weddings can also mean stressful times. This is why you need to ensure that you get nutritious food and drink adequate water to constantly keep yourself hydrated. Another aspect to keep in mind is to ensure that you get at least 6-7 hours of sleep because you don’t want to end up with dark circles on your big day.”
