It is important to prepare the face before applying layer(s) of makeup. Whether it is a light layer or a heavy layer, your face must be prepared in order to avoid greasiness or dryness.
In 3 easy steps, you can have that healthy glow and prevent breakouts and other unsightly blemishes that can come from unclean face.
Wash!
This should be the first thing you do in the morning. Choosing the right cleanser is important.
Normal Skin: If you have a normal skin that is neither too greasy nor too dry, then you’re in luck! Pick any alcohol free face wash and lather it up!
Dry Skin: If you have dry skin all year long, then a moisturizing face wash is the best way to go. Remember to be sure that it is alcohol free as alcohol has a tendency to dry up the skin.
Oily Skin: If you have skin that is too oily, or gets too oily around midday, then pick a light and oil-free face wash. Oils tend to clog the pores of people with oily skin.
Acne Prone: Pick a cleanser that contains either Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide. A cleanser prescribed by your doctor or dermatologist counts as well.
Tone!
Toning can remove any excess oils or dirt that your cleanser has left behind and shrink large pores. It is that extra oomph of cleanliness that your face needs before applying makeup.
Moisturize!
Moisturizing is very important to your skin. Whether you have normal, dry, oily, or acne prone skin, it is important to moisturize before applying make-up. Picking the right moisturizer according to your skin condition can help revitalize your skin and give it a healthy glow. Make sure to pick one with SPF protection! Those UVB rays are harmful to the skin! Protect your skin.
Normal Skin: Have your pick! Choose any moisturizer that you feel gives you that healthy glow. Your choices are unlimited! Go fragrance free or jump on that lavender scented aromatherapy moisturizing bandwagon. But be careful! Take note if your face starts showing signs of blemishes in case you may be allergic.
Dry Skin: Pick a heavy-duty moisturizer. Test products! Pick one that doesn’t get your face too oily. You want the right amount of oomph that will moisturize your face underneath all that make up and give you that gorgeous glow.
Oily Skin: Choose an oil-free non-comedogenic moisturizer. Since people with oily skin tends to get even oilier around midday, it is important to pick a moisturizer that will keep your skin looking healthy and shrink those pores.
Acne Prone: People with acne prone skin tend to be sensitive to products that have too much oil or alcohol in it. It is important to choose a moisturizer that is oil free, non-comedogenic, and contains either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide to fight the bacteria that causes acne. Anything prescribed by your dermatologist or doctor is good too!
