What NOT to do when your skin is breaking out

Have you ever had a skin breakout that you took ages to recover from? Have you ever had a breakout that you made worse, while trying to make it better? Yeah, we have all been there! Breakouts can be both frustrating and stubborn but if you panic and make drastic changes in your skincare regimen you might end up aggravating your breakout.

To avoid making your breakouts worse, here are a few things you need to NOT do...

Don’t stop using SPF and moisturiser

These may be the culprits for your breakout…

When your skin is breaking out; moisturising and SPF products might seem like they are clogging your pores further. But continue to moisturise your skin as the lack of it can cause skin dryness and irritation which can aggravate acne.

Don’t squeeze your pimples, obviously

Need we remind you that picking your pimples will worsen your acne? When you are breaking out, you need to keep your hands clean and your face cleaner. Keep your hands as far from your face as you possibly can!

Don’t make any drastic changes to your skincare regimen

These may be the culprits for your breakout…

If you have just started using a product and that has caused the breakout, then obviously stop using it! But also don’t get too creative with your skincare as it can further increase the inflammation. Stick to using the products that your skin is used to, so you don’t give it an unpleasant surprise. Once your acne gets better, you can try and experiment with a new product.

Don’t blame and abandon your skincare routine altogether

These may be the culprits for your breakout…

A bad breakout can make you question your skincare choices. We get it. If your usual skincare products fail to quickly heal your acne, it can deter your faith even in the most trusted of your products. Do not blame your skincare products, as the reason for your breakouts could be something else. So continue with your regular skin regimen.
