Three Budget Hotels You Will Love

Written by Nazneen Joshi1st Apr 2014
If there’s one place in the world where you can get the full travel experience without too much green in your pocket, it’s India. Here’s our favourite stay options around the country, that won’t stress your wallet.
hotels

Where: Hampi
What: Shanthi Guesthouse
The very popular Shanthi Guesthouse is located across the river from Virupapur Gadde, in lush tranquil surroundings. Opt for the newer cottages that offer stunning views of the rice paddies, rocks and the sunset. You’re also welcome to cook your own food in the restaurant kitchen, which serves a range of cuisine from Israeli to Thai.
Why we love it: What we absolutely fell in love with at this place were the restful swing beds, suspended out the front of each room.
Pricewise: Expect to pay ₹300-500 per night for a room, and  ₹1,000 for a cottage.

hotels

Where: Jodhpur
What: Devi Bhavan
Nestled cosily amongst lush gardens and a short rickshaw ride from downtown Jodhpur is Devi Bhavan. Rejuvenate away from the hustle and bustle of city life with this fabulous weekend getaway! The hotel has a restaurant and lounge as well.
Why we love it: We don’t see many budget hotels that come with a fancy swimming pool. Extra points for that!
Pricewise: Expect to pay ₹2,300 for a standard room (garden setting), and  ₹2,800 for a deluxe room (balcony and private sitting area), per night.

hotels

Where: Rishikesh
What:
 Ganga Vatika Boutique Guesthouse
Ganga Vatika Guest House offers guests rooms in quaint European style apartments. The apartment complex is attached to Yogalaya Ashram and situated near Ram Jhula. Guests can attend yoga classes as well as other activities including meditation, mantra recitation, kirtan and satsang.
Why we love it: For those who are health-conscious like us, the delicious vegetarian sattvick food here is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted, we kid you not.
Pricewise:
Expect to pay ₹1,200 for a single room with a shared bathroom and go up to ₹3,000 for a double room with a private bathroom. You can also book out the whole apartment.
