Fashion blogger Anushka Hajela's first person account on Day 1 of the Fashion Week is a hilarious walk through on the chaos and unlimited fun at the venue.

It's my favourite time of the year again! Each season, Bombay's fashion family has a little reunion to celebrate its style stalwarts and fashion fledglings. The smell of couture is in the air and champagne and macaroons are probably the only thing on the menu (not that anybody's complaining!)

Everywhere you look, you see people in their fashion week finery, striking a pose for a new breed of paparazzi - street style photographers. Seemingly miles away from the real world, here, everyone understands your Instagram obsession, your need for those six inch ankle booties in the day time and why you haven't eaten all day because you're wearing a crop top when you're technically at work. This is where models, editors, designers, bloggers and the ‘It’ girls come together and listening in on their conversations is so much more fun than having your own. I also caught up with my favourite ladies from the blogosphere.

Call me paranoid, but I'm pretty sure my alarm clock and the Bombay traffic have been conspiring against me so that I'm late for everything no matter how hard I try (come to think of it, the elevators at the venue might be in on it, too!). True to form, despite my best efforts, I wound up being late and missing the first show of the season at Fashion Week. Instead, I made my way over to the outdoor area for a catch-up with some industry friends and quickly snuck in a few OOTD shots for the blog, before things started to get intense.

Soon it was time for the next show. One of the few I look forward to each season, Yogesh Chaudhary brightened my day with bright, glittery sunflowers that danced merrily on sarees and dresses, giving my big white wedding dress fantasy a serious run for its money. Shortly after, I made my way to the POPxo suite on the 25th floor where I snacked on canapes, mini-cupcakes and macaroons with my fellow bloggers, while we had our hair styled by the TIGI team.

All dolled up and rearing to go, we made our way downstairs to attend the next show where we had a major front row moment and got to witness Pakistan's biggest designers showcase their collections in India for the very first time. I absolutely loved Sania Maskatia's treasure trove prints so I was thrilled when my swag bag revealed one of her beautiful scarves. I also enjoyed the Zara Shahjahan show.

After another quick break spent walking around the stalls on the floor below, it was time for the River Island show. (I got lost and went to the wrong floor and almost ended up missing it!) This is a show a lot of people were looking forward to since it was the first time River Island had made its way to India, thanks to Jabong. The music was absolutely infectious and my friends and I couldn't help grooving in our seats as we watched their collection of monochrome pencil skirts, peplum tops, jumpsuits and jackets trot down the runway. I ended the day with a cocktail at a nearby bar and crawling in to bed at 2am with my makeup still on, ready to lather-rinse -repeat the day all over again tomorrow. One down, four more to go!
