Wear Your Art

WEAR YOUR ART
Oscar de la Renta once said, “One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art.” And no one argues with a legendary designer like him – we dare not! They say fashion is art and vice versa, and that both work hand in glove to express who we are without saying much. On the Spring Summer 2014 runways, arty prints and abstract proportions took centre stage and have, needless to say, trickled down to high-street stores as well.
At BeBEAUTIFUL, we’re all about being pretty with a certain sense of uniqueness and we thought it only fair to bring to you art prints on fashion that are totally fab and irresistibly wearable.

Drawing inspiration from the rich heritage and architecture that India boasts is this gorgeous tote bag from India Circus. The watercolour print is pretty enough to draw oodles of attention and it makes for the perfect arm candy over a basic ensemble.

This kaleidoscope printed dress from Koovs, which combines abstract print is quirky and still not over the top. Wear it to the club or on a date night and keep it simple with taupe wedges or heels.

Feeling a bit childlike and reminiscing about art class days? We feel you, girls. Sport this adorable spot-paint shirt over your jeans and pop in a bit of colour with solid red or blue booties or ballerinas.

Trust Nete to make the most intricate painting come to life in the form of cool palazzos. These illustrated palazzos by Dhora are apt summer essentials and can look cool well into winter. Style it with a basic white tee or opt for a contrasting hot pink blouse to look like a piece of art. Literally.

Vintage camera prints have been around for a while now and we’re not asking them to go, just yet. With the perfect burst of yellow and black, this is the ideal carry-on you need on days you want to play ‘tourist.’ What’s more, the colour play is such a stark reminder of the heritage yellow and black Mumbai taxis. We love.

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
