Scandal

Playing the part of the fierce Olivia Pope, Kerry Washington shows us how effervaciously she can handle every crisis with ease, while looking fantastic. Olivia’s contemporary power-dressing serves as a fashion guide for every working girl in need of some wardrobe inspiration. Structured trenches, designer handbags and pastel overcoats show us who the girl boss in the White House is. Sticking to a palette of neutral tones even for a Presidential dinner, Olivia’s muted shimmer gowns and sharply tailored trousers are all class.
Girls

Following a group of 20 somethings through their trials and tribulations on the streets of New York, the costumes in Girls are diverse to say the least. Hannah aspires to be the voice of the generation, although her dressing is far from being a la mode as she unapologetically chooses comfort over style with airy rompers and sun dresses. Jessa, the epitome of bohemian chic dons maxi dresses, sheer panels and whimsical hairstyles without a care in the world. Marni’s sleek dresses, tailored shorts and the occasional smokey eye all reflect her pure perfectionist outlook while the ever effervescent Shoshanna, a wide-eyed newbie out of college fearlessly sports sequin skirts, chiffon blouses and eccentric hats.
The Mindy Project

Mindy Lahiri, a renowned gynaecologist has got a number of achievements under her belt, however romance isn’t her strong suit. Another one of her achievements that often goes unnoticed is her exaggerated sense of dressing, something that you’d never expect from a doctor. Often seen in bright colours and mixing prints, Mindy is versatile when it comes to silhouette, wearing both bodycon dresses and overcoats while embracing her curves, definitely a fashion tip to take note of. Her penchant for the wild side comes through in the sparkled and patterned pieces she dons with confidence.
Mad Men

Set in the advertising era of the 50’s, Mad Men’s period costumes that have transitioned over the series have already won industry accolades. Peggy who starts of as a nubile secretary donning oversized dress suits and a demure ponytail matures to one of the higher positions in office and shifts to a trendier hairdo and more fitted silhouettes. Megan Calvet with her mini hems, bright colours and winged eyes is the perfect French girl (and a breath of fresh air.) Betty Draper on the other hand is rebellious within the lines with slimmer fits and varying degrees of skin show while maintaining a decent hemline. And of course, everyone can learn how to dress their curves from iconic Joan Holloway, one of the most pivotal characters on the show known for both her impeccable work ethic and bold fashion choices.
Empire

The moment Cookie Lyons comes onto the scene at Empire, things escalate quickly and so does the style quotient. A wild child at heart, Cookie Lyon has a penchant for animal prints and she doesn’t discriminate; from snakeskin to leopard, all of them work for her. With a love for fur and bodycon fits that’s very apparent, this girl can be a role model for anyone who likes to play it anything but safe.
