Three Lingerie Fashion Faux Pas To Avoid

Written by Deepa Sajnani2nd Apr 2014
Your lingerie should always be reflective of a feeling of self-assured empowerment or mismatched rebellion. Agent Provocateur spells out the sartorial sins to avoid when it comes to your lingerie.
Be rebellious

Be rebellious, not outrageous
There are certain lingerie fashion faux pas that are best avoided. This is not to say that we should bow down to conformity and adhere to the rules. However, we do acknowledge, that as far as these few pointers are concerned, the rebellious streak might need to take a back seat and allow logical, justified fashion advice to prevail.

Turning off the panty line
The most obvious faux pas would be a visible panty line - especially if you are wearing a tight dress or a form-fitting skirt. For outfits such as these, try wearing a sheer and skimpy thong. The sheer material will guarantee a higher level of comfort in comparison to a regular thong and will still serve the purpose of concealing all signs of your underwear.

Inner wear is not outerwear
Another sartorial sin is associated with far too much exposure. A plunging neckline is undeniably sexy and very attractive for those who can pull it off. But an exposed bra is not the idyllic cherry-on-top we had in mind. Shopping for an appropriate bra that has the cups to complement this neckline is an absolute must.

Match your lingerie to your outerwear
The final mistake we tend to make is to forget to match our lingerie to our clothes! If you happen to be wearing something that is transparent, pair it with a nude bra that can complement your skin tone and will remain invisible under your outfit. Similarly if you have opted to wear a slinky dress or jersey-anything, a lace bra is a strict no-no. Under such wardrobe selections, your secret weapon should be a moulded bra or a seamless contour.

Essentially, simply remember that leaving things to his imagination is far more attractive than laying it all on a platter for him. Use your weapons cleverly and you will be sure to successfully entice him.

Agent Provocateur, over and out.

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
