Three ways to ‘flirt up’ your maxi skirt
Have that all important date night with your yearlong crush and still stuck at work filing papers? Or a college crush just asked you out and you realised you ran out of your monthly allowance to shop any more? Fret not, girlies! We’re here to help you work with key pieces from your very own closet and add much needed drama (and romance) to make it a night (and look) to remember. What we chose to work with: A gorgeous Grecian red maxi skirt (You can find this at Zara, Mango or a similar high-street store)

A dinner date

First impressions

You need
- An old graphic tee
- A plain blazer in a neutral colour
- A thick stretch belt
- A statement cuff
Mixing grunge elements with feminine silhouettes was never so much fun and fashionably do-able. Pair your flared maxi skirt with a graphic tee to ring in some punk into your vibe. Before you think your date might leave you at the door, cover it up smartly with a relaxed jacket and finally, for that finishing touch, cinch the look with a structured belt that sits just right to show off your gorgeous waist. A gold cuff is all you need as an accessory. Go with ballet flats if you’re going to be outdoors or team it with sky-high pumps and off you go!

A walk in the park

First impressions

You need
- An old denim shirt
- An old vest in baby pink, blue or white (plain or printed)
- Ballet flats
- A charm bracelet or a cutesy watch
A date at the park calls for a fun and relaxed look. Have an old denim shirt from the 90s you don’t know what to do with? Bring it out and knot it up! Wear this over a cutesy vest (like a heart motif baby pink one) and accessorise your ensemble with a charm bracelet and pretty stone earrings to spring plenty of ‘youth’ into your look. Ballet flats keep the outfit looking casual, yet peppy.

First impressions

You need:
- A black or sequinned spaghetti top
- Plain gold hoops
- A gold belt
- Metallic bangles and rings stacked up

Heading to a fine dining eatery followed by a late night walk? You need oodles of oomph, woman! To bring some ‘sexy’ into your look, work the black and gold combo with your red maxi. Keep it minimal, yet striking. Pair a black spaghetti top with your skirt and to add some drama, strap on a gold belt. Add some stacked metallic bangles and a pair of gold hoops to the ensemble and watch his jaw drop at “hello!”

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
