Structured and tailored jackets
Inspired by the work of artist Franz Kline, Narendra’s line goes through the various stages of love, starting with bright blues and yellows to depict happiness and joy. Sharply structured and tailored jackets in fabrics that were specked with sheen soon became our favourites. It set the tone for the royalty and grandeur that remained constant throughout.
Peplum jackets and fitted skirts
Following through, moss and dark green tones on peplum jackets and fitted skirts with ornate work reminded us of ‘jealousy.’ Rebellious pops of colours like bright orange, yellow and indigo lent a certain depth of character to each creation Narendra showcased.
Jewel tones and pant suits
The saturated jewel tones finished up with darkest of blacks that rang in the end of the show. Pant suits with pops of colour, tube dresses with fitted waists and bodycon dress with embellished collars were highlights of the last stage of a show that we think was nothing short of extraordinary. If there was ever a time we felt fashion merged perfectly well with art, inspiration and emotion, Narendra Kumar’s show was the epitome of it.
Red eyeshadow and messy updos
Messy up dos, natural makeup with a pop of red eye shadow smeared over and under, was both theatrical and purposeful, keeping in tandem with the theme of the show.
Luxurious gowns and rich pleats
The third stage of the collection moved to rich tones of burgundy, red and rust. A sudden pop of candy pink emerged somewhere. Trust Narendra to always surprise us with his genius. Think peplum skirts and rich pleats along with luxurious gowns. On most pieces, one could see carefully sewn ornate baroque embroidery, giving it a true sense of élan.
