5 FOODS THAT GIVE YOUR BODY MAXIMUM HYDRATION
As we grow old, our cells start to lose water. This is when our skin begins to lose its elasticity, which leads to premature ageing. Precisely why your body needs to stay hydrated at all times. Besides fighting signs of ageing, water ensures that all the toxins from your body are flushed out—something that keeps your body healthy and nourished. While water is the obvious way to keeping your body hydrated, you can even ‘eat’ water by consuming certain foods with high water content. Confused? Well here are a bunch of fruits and veggies that will keep you hydrated.

Cucumber

Strawberries

Cucumber contains 96.7% water content and instantly increases the body’s hydration levels. It can be eaten raw, made into a smoothie or even added into a salad as a topping. Moreover, it contains Vitamin K, which activates the protein needed for bone health. Also, due to its high water content, it has a cooling effect on the body. Our personal favourite way of consuming cucumber is by making a refreshing juice. All you need to do is peel and chop the cucumber into pieces. Place them in a blender, strain it, add some ice to the juice and drink it chilled!

Iceberg Lettuce

Strawberries

Iceberg lettuce has a water content of 95.6%. The best part about this vegetable is that it’s practically calorie-free and filled with fibre. So besides ensuring that your body is free from bad bacteria, it also makes sure that your digestive tract is cleansed due to its fibre content. This lettuce is rather crispy and you will also notice that no other lettuce is as cooling as this one. The best way to consume it? Well, if you ask us we never forget to add some chilled iceberg lettuce to our salad. Just pull it out from the fridge and add it to whichever salad you choose to make.

Tomatoes

Strawberries

You can’t deny the fact that almost every dish is incomplete without tomatoes. From salads to chutneys and sandwiches, tomatoes add taste to many meals. But did you know that tomatoes contain 94.5% water and are hence, extremely hydrating in nature? Moreover, tomatoes are rich in vitamin C, which boosts collagen production that keeps the skin stay soft and supple.

Watermelon

Strawberries

It’s not hard to tell that watermelon is high in water content. WIth 91.5% water, it is one of the best fruits to consume if you can’t get yourself to get your daily 2 liter intake. What’s more, it contains lycopene, which is a cancer-fighting antioxidant usually found in red fruits and veggies. Just mix ½ cup watermelon slices with two glasses of water in a jar and refrigerate before drinking. This water will detoxify you and also help you lose fat.

Strawberries

Strawberries

While most berries provide hydration, strawberries can instantly increase your water levels as they contain 91% water. Also, this fruit is rich in Vitamin C, which will ensure that your skin glows and you put up a strong fight against premature ageing. Want to know the best way to include these in your diet? Just throw in some chopped strawberries into yoghurt or add some to your breakfast of oats and milk!
