For a quick bite that’s fulfilling and delicious opt for lettuce wraps. They’re not quite as pretentious tasting as they sound and you can pack them with delicious, low-fat fillings to make up for the leafy exterior. Think: grilled chicken with a dollop of peanut sauce and topped off with some fresh cilantro. Now, does that sound healthy or yummy? We’re going to go with the former but you can be happy knowing it ticks both check boxes!

The number one snack we love to munch on while working are chips! You say the word chips and everyone is looking to grab a handful. There’s something about the crunchy, salty delight that make them addictive—especially while we’re neck deep in work. Which is why a batch of homemade whole-grain pita chips are the perfect substitute. Not only are they crunchier that your bag of potato crisps, but they’re also a way better accompaniment to hummus. So instead of a greasy bag of Lays, you’ve got yourself a wholesome snack which is tenfold healthier and a lot more satisfying.

Hard-boiled eggs seasoned with some salt, pepper and herbs make for a great afternoon snack that will leave you feeling full and satisfied. Plus, the protein powerhouse will give you all the energy you need to keep going. If you’re looking for a little bit of an added kick, splatter on some tabasco or a hot sauce of your preference and get going.

As long as you keep a healthy distance from the kind that’s oozing with butter—you’re golden. Popcorn can be a deliciously satisfying alternative to greasy snacks and a whole lot healthier too. Many a times, while we’re studying or working—we like having a bowl of crunches to munch on as we complete our task. By using an unhealthy option, we continue to munch on something we don’t really need—cause let’s face it; you’re not eating the munchies because you’re hungry. With popcorn, you’ve can fulfil the same craving without spending too many calories on it.

Laughing cow or straight up cheddar—a few slices of cheese accompanied by fruit is a great mid-day snack. It’s rare to find someone who is not a fan of this protein—it can be creamy or nutty or sweet—the flavours of cheese are bountiful and they’re healthy fats that offer your body a host of vitamins and proteins.

Homemade nut butter is a fantastic alternative to packaged peanut butter or really any other spreadable condiment. First off, you’ve got all the power that nuts have, and secondly, you give the sugar and excess oils a miss—and trust us, you’ll be in for a shock when you find out exactly how much sugar goes into a bottled jar of Skippy. Instead blend up the nuts at home in your mixy—you won’t need to add any extra oil, because nuts contain a lot of natural oils so when you blend them, that oil will release to give the nuts a buttery like texture. Albeit, they’ll turn out slightly chunkier than your used to, but that’s a small price to pay for health, is it not?

That nuts are good for you is common knowledge. What’s also common knowledge is the somewhat not so appetizing nature of plain nuts. So why not take a handful of salted nuts: peanuts, cashews, almonds—the likes, mix them up with some chewy raisins add in some bits of chocolate and make your very own batch of trail mix. Sure, you could do without the chocolate and salt—but if it makes for an appetizing snack that’s full of nutrients from the nuts, it’s not so bad of an option, eh?

Make your very own inventive candy with fruit leather! Fruit leather is just a fancy way of saying flattened fruit, but it tastes almost like a childhood favourite: fruit roll-up! These homemade fruit rolls can be made with any fruits and also dates! They’re deliciously chewy and fun to eat. All you need to do is puree dried fruit onto a flat surface and let it dry. Once it’s dried, pull it from the surface and roll up. You can add in some spices, lemon juice, shredded coconut and other such frills to your puree to add some extra flavour to your rolls.
