We often worry about all the things that we need to do in order to lose weight. But have you ever given thought to all those things that you shouldn’t be doing if you really plan on losing weight? The don’ts are just as important as the dos, perhaps even more. Here are a few things that you must remember to not do if you wish to lose weight in an effective manner.
- 1. Don’t think of exercise as a chore
- 2. Carbs for dinner
- 3. Monotonous workout
- 4. Skipping meals
- 5. Procrastination
1. Don’t think of exercise as a chore

If you consider exercise to be a tedious chore, you won’t really be able to gather the resolve to do it regularly. However, the day you begin to think of it as fun and make it a part of your routine, just like you brush your teeth and bathe every day, you wouldn’t feel like skipping even a day of exercise. If you are someone who doesn’t enjoy the monotony of a gym routine, opt for something a bit more interesting such as Zumba, dancing or just about anything that will get your heart pumping and provide your muscles with good exercise.
2. Carbs for dinner

When you are attempting to lose weight, it isn’t really necessary nor is it recommended that you skip your dinner or starve yourself. It’s even better if you are consuming protein-rich food, which is pretty easy to digest and does not make you gain any extra kilos. However, if carbs are a regular part of your meal, you might face certain difficulties in losing weight.
3. Monotonous workout

Doing the same kind of exercises every day can get pretty boring after a while. This can result in you skipping certain exercises due to a lack of enthusiasm and this is not a good sign, especially if you’re trying to lose weight. Make sure that you switch the exercises in your workout sessions every month, so that it doesn’t get too repetitive and uninteresting for you. Another reason why you should keep trying out different workouts is that after some time, your body gets accustomed to the exercises you’ve been doing and stops benefitting from them as much as before.
4. Skipping meals

If you are desperately trying to lose weight, there’s a chance that you might end up skipping some of your meals altogether. People often erroneously believe that skipping meals or eating fewer calories will help them lose weight much quicker and more effectively. While skipping meals may lead to weight loss, it is certainly not a healthy way of losing weight since it lowers your natural immunity and you start gaining weight as soon as you stop skipping meals, perhaps even more than you would have before. Instead, eating healthy and at the right time is extremely important. With a proper diet and regular exercise, you will be able to lose weight in a healthier and more effective manner, the results of which will not be as temporary as those achieved by skipping meals.
5. Procrastination

If you keep on saying that you’ll do it tomorrow, you won’t ever get to really doing it. Being passionate and determined about exercising can be tough but it is the only way you can lose weight, achieve the shape you desire for your body and become fitter. If you are not a gym person, you can always take a walk or jog with your dog, play badminton with your friends or just do about 30 Surya Namaskars whenever you get time.
