Kosher salt

This is the kind of salt chefs prefer sprinkling on their foods like roasts and popcorn. This one’s easier to handle because it’s flatter and lighter. Also, it’s beneficial in less quantity because it has larger grains, which means less sodium per spoon. Basically, kosher salt gives you more flavour without having to use much salt.
Rock salt

This one’s perfect as a flavour enhancer. Rock salt can be used as an alternative to common salt as this one’s rich in minerals and as opposed to common salt, this does not cause problems like high blood pressure. Other rock salt benefits are easing the digestion process as well as curing gas problems and heartburn.
Himalayan pink salt

This one gets its pink colour from iron oxide (rust) in it. It contains small amounts of calcium, iron, potassium as well as magnesium. The reason why many prefer this salt is because it has a slightly lower amount of sodium than your regular salt.
Black salt

Perfect for garnishing over fruit salads and adding to your raitas, this salt is also used as a cooling agent in many ayurvedic medicines. Black salt or kaala namak has the power to cure bloating and many digestive problems in the body. You’d be surprised but the essential minerals in black salt also help get rid of hair fall. So you can mix black salt with tomato juice and apply it on your scalp and leave it on for at least 20 minutes to slowly but surely get rid of hair fall.
