Be Realistic

All solutions are delivered by first identifying the problem so start by figuring out where your threshold lies. When a unachievable resolution is set, it is more likely to fizzle out faster. Once you understand where your limit lies, that’s one step closer to your goal. If you have resolved to exercise regularly, analyze how many days a week you can workout comfortably. If it’s a new diet you’re trying, figure out a food plan that works best for your body. Setting your resolutions realistically is a step in the right direction for you to work towards.
Pep yourself
All achievements start with a vigorous sense of willpower, which lies completely in your hands. Before you actually begin working on your goal, give yourself a good old fashioned pep talk. Start pumping yourself up which will help you get excited about your goals rather than dreading it. Remind yourself that you have the ability and you will achieve your resolution. Don’t forget that it’s always mind over matter so starting with your mind will help you control matter.
Look forward
If you have something to looking forward to, it will excite you about starting your regime towards your resolution. If you have resolved to read more books, a fancy bookmark is a pretty addition to get those pages turning. If your resolution is to save money, a decorated mason jar can be the perfect place to store those coins you collect. A tiny trinket from you to you can get you excited about making progress towards your resolution and assist you through your journey.
Short sighted

Rather than looking at the whole year when setting your goals, break it down into smaller time periods. Be shortsighted and set your schedule for 3 or 6 months at a time. Once you are clear on your plan for the next few months, focus solely on that period for your goal while paying no heed to the rest. Being short sighted can help you concentrate only what needs your attention, which will help you give it more of your energy.
Cheat day
At the end of the day, don’t forget that you are human so allow yourself to catch a break every once in awhile. Every weekend, allot one day as a cheat day so that you can give yourself freedom without going overboard from your resolution. If you’ve sworn off coffee as your resolution, allow yourself an espresso on the weekend or if it’s your tv screen you’ve turned off for your resolution, give yourself the pleasure of watching your favorite show for an hour. A cheat day helps balance your process and strengthens your willpower when moving forward.
Track progress
One of the best parts of working towards a goal is the progress you make so remember to remind yourself of it. Looking at the scale to note down your weight loss and crossing out the days you’ve made it smoke-free will boost your self-esteem and further convince you that your goal really is possible. Taking a look at how far you’ve come and what you’ve achieved to make it to the present is just the motivator you need to proceed with your progress.
