Switch up your locks with these fall-appropriate hairstyles for long hair

Growing your hair out is no easy task, we'll give you that. But there's something about staying indoors all the time that makes you want to chop off your long locks, simply because you're bored. Before you reach for the closest pair of scissors to switch things up, hear us out. We've got a few hairstyles for long hair that'll switch up your look without the chop.

From power-ponytails to big blowouts, there's a fall-appropriate hairstyle for every mood. So read on, and give yourself a new 'do already!

Want Instagram baddie-like hair? Opt for the 2021 favourite bubble braid! Playful and fun, this hairstyle is a great break from boring old braids. To recreate this one, simply tie your hair in a high ponytail with a rubber band, and continue to tie equidistant bands. Pull out some wisps to frame your face, and you're good to go!

02. Half up, half down

This one's a personal favourite, and it works exceptionally well if you have face-framing bangs. Tie half your hair up in a ponytail or a bun (I personally prefer a bun) with a hair tie or a scarf, and let the remaining strands hang loose. No matter what your hair texture or colour, this one's a super-easy way to look put together. And it barely takes any time!

03. Slicked-back

If the 2021 red carpets and fashion weeks have taught us anything, it's that you best get on board with a slicked-back look. A great hairstyle for long hair that helps you avoid flyaways and keeps all the focus on your face, creating a slicked-back look is easier than you think. Simply use a serum all over your hair, and add a holding spray on top to keep the hair in place. Then, use a fine-toothed comb to slick your hair back from the crown, and you're good to go!

04. Power ponytail

Ariana Grande stands united! The music icon's power ponytail is all the rage RN, and there's only one rule when it comes to pulling off this hairstyle — the more gravity-defying, the better. The sky's the limit for this one!

Commonly known as s-shaped waves, this hairstyle for long hair is all about uniformity and intention. Contrary to messy beach waves, these look more put-together and can even be recreated without heat tools! Simply divide freshly-washed hair into two equal sections, weave a braid on each side, and let loose once they're dry.
