Eyeshadow mapping – how to correctly apply eyeshadow

Step 01: Apply eye primer
This is one step that a lot of people make the mistake of forgetting, but is in fact THE most important for a flawless eye makeup look. Priming your lids before applying any eyeshadow is extremely crucial as it creates a smooth base for the rest of the eye makeup. Additionally, for girls with greasy eyelids, this is the perfect solution to prevent your makeup from smudging or creasing.
Step 02: Start with a neutral colour
For your lid, always begin by applying a neutral (neither too light nor too dark) coloured shade all over, right up to the crease. This will form the perfect base by concealing any sort of discolouration and make the eyeshadow colours that are to follow pop!
Step 03: Darken your crease
As for the next step, take a darker shade from the same family as the base and apply it into your crease to darken it. Start from the inside with a thin line and keep making it thicker as you reach the outside. Then blend it completely to avoid harsh lines. This is what will give your eyes the desired drama and take your eye makeup several notches higher.
Step 04: Define your brow bone
No eyeshadow look is complete without this step. This step not only gives your eyes some added definition, but also makes your eyebrows pop. Never define your brow bone using a lighter shade as that will completely ruin your eye makeup.
Step 05: Highlight the inner corner
This is the final step of any eyeshadow look, but one that is really important as it helps to truly open up your eyes and make you look awake. Simply take a little bit of a shimmery nude shade from your eyeshadow palette and press it onto the inner corner of your eyes.
