It’s the 21st century, and a lot of us are still struggling to perfect the cat-eye look. And it’s not like we haven’t been trying relentlessly. We’ve stationed ourselves in front of our mirrors, drawn a stroke of black above the lids, and tried concluding the look with a sharp outward flick before our hands sabotaged our carefully-intentioned technique with an unwarranted jerk. The result? An awkwardly-placed, disconnected, contorted wing above our eyes. Instead of freestyling the wing, here are five at-home tools you can use to create the perfect winged eyeliner.
01. Bobby pin

This is one of the easiest ways to recreate a winged eye. Just coat the V-shaped opening of the pin with liquid eyeliner, and press it against your eyes at an angle you like. Once you’ve done that, draw a line along the root of your upper lash-line, and fill in the outline of the wing with the eyeliner.
02. Floss

Just like the previous method, you can use a dental floss pick as a makeshift stamp for your wing. All you have to do is coat the pick with liquid eyeliner, and press it diagonally out from your eyes twice to create the outline of the wing. Fill in the wing, and draw a line along your lids starting from the inner corner to connect to the wing. And you’re done!
03. Card

There’s a way you can create the perfect cat-eye look with a tool right out of your bag — a card. All you have to do is place the card against the outer corner of your eyes, and angle it toward the end of your eyebrows. This will allow you to create the perfect base for your wing.
04. Tape

This is just like the previous hack with the card. Place a piece of tape between the corner of your eyes and the outermost edge of your brow, and draw the base for the wing. You can use another piece as a stencil, and make a complete wing.
05. Fork

You have to be extremely careful with this one. Press the edge of a fork against your eyelid after determining which angle you’d like to position the wing at, and apply liner against it. That’s about it! Draw a line along your eyelids, and connect the wing with it, and you have a full-fledged, non-janky cat-eyed look!
