Nimbu Pani
We’re never going to underestimate the powers of the good ol’ nimbu pani. Just deseed the lemon and add the juice to cold water. Put sugar or honey as per your taste along with some ice cubes and keep stirring. If you want the process to be less time consuming, grind sugar and keep the powder ready so it dissolves easily in the water. For better taste add some kaala namak and mint leaves to garnish. Remember to chill it in the fridge for a few hours. This one’s never going to let you down!

Buttermilk
You know how Cleopatra was addicted to the milk bath for her beauty? Well, one of milk’s by-product – buttermilk – has several beauty benefits as well. Chief among them is the fact that it’s particularly good for the summers. Add chopped green chillies, curry leaves, ginger juice, chaat masala and salt to a bowl of yoghurt. Use a hand blender to grind. Now add some water and whisk it again. Chill the drink for a while in the fridge before serving.

Masala Soda
How many times have we come home after a hot day and craved chilled masala soda? It’s not only a refreshing drink but also helps in digestion. You just have to take 3/4th cup of sugar syrup and add 6 tablespoons of lemon juice to it. Add 2 teaspoons black salt, 1 teaspoon of chaat masala and 1 crushed kaali mirch. After mixing this well, add some crushed ice to the preparation. Add soda to the glass and voila! You’re ready to fight the heat!

Jal Jeera
Sour and salty, Jal Jeera works perfectly as a summer drink. Wondering how you can make it at home for your family? You need 2 tbsp cumin seeds, 2 tbsp mint leaves, some fresh coriander leaves, ½ teaspoon black salt, 5 cups of chilled water and a little sugar. This might take a little time but trust us, it’s totally worth it. After grinding the cumin seeds, roast the powder for a bit. Mix roasted cumin powder, mint paste, coriander paste lemon juice and black salt. Add water and mix again before drinking chilled.

Rose milk
If there’s one thing that invariably takes us back to our childhood, it’s rose milk! But now that we’re adults, we can have it chilled. You need 2 cups of milk, 8 almonds, 2 tbsp sugar, 10 drops of rose syrup and ice cubes. Boil the milk with sugar and add the rose drops to it. Add almond paste to the cooled milk. Serve chilled and if your kids happen to like nuts on top, crush some and add on top before serving!
