01. Is this just another trend? Or is there more to the ingredient?

There's more. So much more. This perennial herb is found primarily in Asia. If you're a fan of K-beauty, you might have heard of this. A lot of Korean moisturisers are loaded with this ingredient. They're also referred to as 'cica creams'.
Centella Asiatica is loaded with anti-inflammatory properties as well as antioxidants. It contains two compounds called madecassoside and asiaticoside, known to soothe the skin. The former is an antioxidant that protects your skin from damage caused by free radicals. It's excellent at soothing dryness, redness, roughness, inflammation and hydrating the skin. This is why it can treat symptoms of conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It's also known to boost circulation for a youthful appearance and increase collagen production to firm the skin, reduce the visibility of wrinkles and lines, and improve elasticity.
According to research, this ingredient can mitigate the effects of damage caused by exposure to the sun and revitalise the skin's protective barrier. And it has healing properties, prevents scarring, and strengthens the skin.
Notice how the plant addresses most skin-related concerns and skin types—sensitive, dry, dull, and mature.
02. How do you work this all-natural ingredient into your routine?

It's pretty simple. This ingredient is already added to many skincare products, like serums, balms, cleansers, toners, and creams. You can, therefore, just go on with your standard regimen. Just check the ingredients before purchasing your products. Centella Asiatica can be applied to the skin in the day or night. Or both.
