Neon lights
Say that you are in the mood for a black LBD or are keeping it simple with a dark ethnic dress. Make your eyes the highlight of your outfit with neon-coloured eyeshadows. If you don’t want to fully commit, you can still add a little pop to your face with neon-coloured eyeliner. Simply draw on a graphic eyeliner or floating wing with yellow or electric blue eyeliner.

Floral stickers
You know flowers just don’t have to be for the hair. While now is the time to adorn your hair with gajras, you can also play around with floral stickers and patterns for your eye makeup. Finally, make use of those floral stickers you had hoarded when you were a kid and were too nostalgic to throw away by sticking them near your brow bone. You can also draw on some flowers with a thin-tipped brush or eyeliner if you are up for a challenge.

The little mermaid
Are you in the mood for a little cosplaying? Turn into a mermaid by drawing on fish scales near your brow bone and outer corner of your eye. And it isn’t as hard as it looks. Simply stretch a fishnet stocking on top of your eye and swipe some eyeshadow on top of it to get the fish scale pattern. Take off the stocking to revel in your instant masterpiece.

Contrasting colours
No more playing it safe. Switch out your usual one-toned eyeshadow or the standard winged eyeliner for some contrasting colours. Become the centre of attention with this vivid festival makeup look. All you need to do is pick two contrasting colours like say blue and orange or green and pink. Pair the two shades together to create a two-toned look.

Is that gold?
Let the aunties sport their gold necklaces and bangles. It is time for you to make your face the most invaluable part of your look by blinging up your eyes. Draw a bold winged eyeliner with gold glitter of the Lakme Insta Eye Liner. It is water resistant and fast-drying so you won’t mess up the look even if you blink in between. While it has a deep intensity, if you are still not satisfied, you can even stick rhinestones on the outer edge of your eyes for a dramatic wing.

All the colours of the rainbow
Who says rainbows are only for the monsoon or Pride month? Play with all seven colours of the rainbow on your eyes. Draw a rainbow paired with adorable little clouds and stars or create an elaborate smokey eye look by adding the light shades on the inner corner of your eye, the cool tones on your under eye and the dark shades as the smokey part.

Pop of yellow
If there is one trend from the 70s that needs to stay forever, it is the single pop of bright colours. Just a swipe of a yellow wing or in the inner corner of your eye immediately adds that oomph factor that your look may be missing. It is also pretty easy if you are a newbie and are not comfortable experimenting with multiple shades.

Get royal
Rich shades of red and pink, navy blue, or deep purple are always associated with royalty. So, why not channel your inner royalty with these colours as well. Get a regal look by playing with these shades. If you’re bored with a smokey look, apply one colour on your lid and another on your crease.

Rhinestones for the win
HBO’s ‘Euphoria’ may have popularised the rhinestone floating eyeliner look but crystal-studded lids have always been a favourite Indian trend during the festival season. From Chandan face art for Eastern brides to tribal art, we love dotting our faces with gemstones and white eye makeup. So, why not do the same for your festival makeup look. Keep your makeup minimal and stick on rhinestones near your eyeliner and lash line.

Glitter is your best friend
Another way to glam up your look is to highlight your makeup. Do you not want to use rhinestones? Well, just go crazy with your highlighter or pressed glitter. You can apply it to your brow bone, inner corner of your eye, top of your nose, over the edge of your cupid’s bow and cheekbones. Is it still not enough? Body glitter on your neck and over your chest just before your blouse begins may be just what your look might be missing.

Soft glow
Is glitter not your thing? Or are you wearing an extremely rich lehenga that sporting a full face of makeup would just be too much? Don’t worry. You can still look glam with a soft and minimalist look. Keep your lips and eye makeup subtle with nude shades. Instead, make a bold statement with a thick eyeliner and kajal on your waterline.
Complete your look with the Lakme Absolute Liquid Highlighter that has a radiant finish without giving an oily look. While it is lightweight, you can also build on it according to the intensity you prefer. Swipe a little highlighter on your cheekbones and brow bone for that dewy glow and set it with a setting spray.

Blush isn’t just for the cheeks
You must have seen beauty influencers going ham with the blush applying it all over their nose, cheeks and the sides of their face. Gone are the days of the subtle smile and swipe rouge that made it look like you just had naturally rosy cheeks. Well, the bolder the better now.
After you are done with your contouring, and just before your highlighter, take a round and fluffy brush and pack on some blush. We’d suggest the Lakme 9 to 5 Pure Rouge Blusher which is easy to apply and blend and has a matte finish that lasts all day long. Simply brush it over the tip of your nose, the centre of your cheeks and all the way to the outer corner of your eyes.

Bronzer is the new contour
With Indians finally getting some well-deserved representation in the Western media from Netflix’s ‘Bridgerton’ to ‘Never Have I Ever’, we finally have pop culture characters that we can emulate easily. Whether it is the Sharma’s desi-Regency look or Kamala’s cute outfits, the one thing they have in common is an always glammed-up face without any white-washing. Bronze it up and let your skin glow by dusting some bronzer around your temples and below your cheeks.

Glossy lips
Dark and matte red lips are an evergreen look but try changing things ups once in a while with some glow. This is Instagram’s favourite new look as it gives a soft but blurry glow to your face, perfect for a daytime puja or early evening outing.
The Lakme Absolute Spotlight Lip Gloss is sure to give you that glossy and plump effect that everyone’s vying for nowadays. Easy to apply, it has a gel finish without the stickiness as it is infused with sodium hyaluronate and gives a gorgeous, shiny finish.

Faux freckles
Those with freckles must be glad for this trend as they do not have to hide them any longer. But if you don’t have them, you can also add freckles for a 3D look. And there is no wrong way of drawing on fake freckles. Simply take a brow pencil or kajal and lightly dot on freckles after your foundation all over your nose, the groove between your cheeks and the side of your nose.
Well, here are some quirky and classy trends of 2022 that you can try for your festival makeup look. Keep it simple or go all out with glitter and blush, depending on your outfit and mood.
