6 MAKEUP AND BEAUTY TRICKS FOR THE SUMMER
While we love the abundance of sunshine and clear blue skies in summer, our beauty routine doesn’t really feel the same. That’s because the dry breeze and sticky humidity of the season can leave you searching for ways to beat the heat. However, you need not look any further. Our cheat sheet contains all the best beauty, makeup and skin care tips to let you bask in the summer sun without a care!

Banish away blisters

Before you flaunt your fantastic neon pedicure in your new summer sandals, keep this tip handy—avoid blisters by slathering petroleum jelly over areas of the foot which tend to have most friction. Apply it to your large and small toe along with your ankle and heel so that your foot will rub against your sandal without bruises or shoe bites.

Keep your hair sweat-free

While shorter crops are recommended for the sultry summer, excessive sweating on the neck area can be quite a dampener (literally too!) Avoid this by applying an anti-perspirant deodorant on the back of your neck, where the hair tends to get stuck. The deodorant will keep your neck sweat-free and prevent your hairstyle from getting ruined.

Cool down your skin

When your skin erupts due to the climate, it desperately needs skincare in summer to cool it down. To a jug of water add slices of lemons, cucumbers and aloe vera juice, then freeze the mixture in ice cube trays. The next time your skin feels sunburned, sore or itchy; apply the infused ice cubes to the affected area for quick healing.

Calm down the frizz

Thanks to the humidity of summer, hair is rarely ever obedient. Since frizz and fly-aways abound during the season tame them by spraying hairspray over a toothbrush, keeping it close to the nozzle. Then use this toothbrush to tame any fly-aways in your hair as it is especially good to reach onto the small, finer hair.

Protect your makeup

As the sweat glands work overtime in summer, makeup bleeding across your face is one disaster that needs to be avoided. To do so, follow the celebrity favorite ‘sand-bagging’ makeup technique. After your base makeup, apply loose powder under your eyes and around your lips to absorb any excess oil. Then brush the excess away for your makeup to remain intact without any smudging or bleeding.

When you’re looking to shave your gams in a jiffy and realize you’re out of shaving foam, don’t fret and use conditioner instead. Add water to a small amount of conditioner to thin the consistency and apply it in place of shaving foam. Conditioner slides on smoothly, gives a cleaner shave and will leave your legs smelling fragrant!
