Where did we see negative space lips?

When you have Pat McGrath to do the makeup for your show, you’ve already won over everyone. So you can imagine what this show was like—the coming together of two geniuses—John Galliano’s creations and McGrath’s makeup. So everything about this show meant trendy. In sync with Galliano’s trench coat dresses, McGrath gave his models the negative space lipstick—a daring yet memorable makeup trend on the runway.
What is this makeup trend all about?

This is when you wear a bright shade of matte lip colour that has extremely precise edges but the centre has a negative space; more like you forget to add lip colour in the middle. Imagine this—you create a heart like structure that doesn’t come together in the middle. If you see, the lips complemented the skin perfectly at the Maison Margiela show. McGrath invented something termed as ‘spa skin’—the kind of skin you have once you relax your face at a massage through a spa treatment. How did she achieve that, you wonder? By applying highlighter all over the face!
Do you want to try it?

Think you could give this makeup trend a shot? Once you’ve strobed your face, dab very little concealer on your lips. Get your hands on a matte lipstick like the Lakmé 9 to 5 Weightless Mousse Lip and Cheek Color, Pink Plush. Use a lip brush to pick product from the bottle and then trace the outer edges of your lips and create a heart leaving out the middle of the upper and lower lip. Our makeup tip would be to fill the empty space by using a bit of concealer again in the middle to make the space more evident. With these makeup tips in action, you’re so ready to rock this trend!
