Contouring is every girl's BFF, when you want to show off a perfectly sculpted face and enhance your natural features, when done correctly. What is ‘correctly’ you ask? Every face shape is different and has its plusses and minuses, which is why what works for one face type won't necessarily do much for another. For a naturally flawless look, it's best to work with your face shape when it comes to contouring.
From round to oval we break down what contouring complements your face and how to go about it. Here's how to contour for your face shape.
Round face

Round face is a full face with a soft, rounded chin, jawline, and full cheeks. You want to give the illusion of angular cheekbones and a shapely jawline to add length to your face and diffuse the roundness.
Where to contour
Contour along the temples, sides of the forehead, below your cheekbones towards your ear and along the jawline.
Oval face

You already have the most desirable face shape out there that contours naturally and easily. Nonetheless, you can create an illusion of a lift with some contouring.
Where to contour
Contour under the cheekbones, from the middle of the ears to the corners of the mouth and on top of the forehead.
Heart Shape Face

The striking heart-shaped face gets its definition with a prominent chin, wider forehead and cheekbones, a widow’s peak, and a smaller jaw. You want to align the wide forehead and cheekbones with the jaw to balance the sharp curves.
Where to contour
Play it up by lightly contouring the cheekbones, sides of your forehead and temples to create a balance between the upper and lower half of your face. If your chin is very prominent, begin the contour underneath the chin blending upwards, towards the centre.
Square shape face

You are already blessed with a sharp jawline and a wide forehead. To get the ultimate chiselled look, you want to further enhance your jawline and really sculpt your cheekbones.
Where to contour
Contour along the sides of your jawbones, forehead, and temples to slim down this area. Hit up the area below the cheekbones starting from your ears to the middle of your cheeks to really enhance your features.
