Love to receive red roses from those special people in your life? Since ancient times women have loved roses not only for their beauty but as a beauty aid too. Queen Nefertiti, Cleopatra and even Queen Anne of England included rose petals in their daily beauty regimen.

Rose petals are full of goodies which nourish the skin and hair. They not only contain carotene but also several vitamins that not only improve appearances but work deep within, moisturising, toning and smoothening wrinkles and fine lines.

Rose petals are a great conditioner promoting growth of thick hair and also act as a deterrent for bacteria relieving an itchy scalp and dandruff.

Hair vitalizer pack: Add 10-12 crushed rose petals and 1 teaspoon lemon juice to an egg white. Whisk. Rub thoroughly into the hair and scalp. Wrap in plastic and wash after 40 minutes. Wash off and welcome lustrous hair!

Rose petals lighten, soften and cleanse facial skin reducing age lines. They have the unique quality of balancing oily and dry patches to give glowing radiant complexion.

Grandma's weekly fix: Mix 1 tablespoon besan, 1 tablespoon. crushed rose petals, 1 tablespoon yoghurt and a few drops of almond oil. Apply an even layer over face and neck. After 10 minutes, rub off in circular motion and wash with cold water and emerge anew with soft, supple skin.

Scrub in a jar: In a clean broad mouthed bottle pour in 200 ml of extra virgin olive oil. Add about a cupful of deep red rose petals. Now add 200 gms grated jaggery. Finally top with 2 tablespoon of almond oil. Cover and store the jar in a cool place for a few days. Before using, mash and mix all the ingredients. Slather over the whole body and gently rub off. Bathe in warm water and enjoy an all-over rejuvenated glow!
