
Yves Saint Laurent's ‘Mondrian’ dresses 1965
We can’t possibly complete our art and fashion collaboration list without mentioning Piet Mondrian and Yves Saint Laurent’s collaboration. Inspired by the ‘father of geometric abstraction’ and abstractionist painter Piet Mondrian, Yves Saint Laurent gave birth to the iconic A-line ‘Mondrian Dress’ which was released during the Autumn of 1965. Fused with graphic white and black lines, white spaces and his trademark primary colours, the Mondrian inspired dress was an iconic piece during the 60s.

Karl Lagerfeld’s artsy fashion runway at Chanel SS 2014 show
Lagerfeld transformed the conventional runway into an art-fair style ramp when he presented his collection for in 2014. Models walked amidst 75 sculptures and paintings conceived by Mr. Lagerfeld. Some of the art works played with Chanel's iconography – pearls, perfume bottles and of course the double Cs.

Miuccia Prada’s Spring 2014 show in Milan
In the spring of 2014, Miuccia Prada commissioned six contemporary artists to create murals that decked up her catwalk at her show in Milan. The murals against which the show took place, images of those murals were picked up and used on the clothes and accessories that were part of the collection. Bold yet wearable, the collection sported a strong artistic element.

Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali in the 1930s
Back in the 1930's Elsa Schiaparelli collaborated with a number of Surrealist artists in Paris like Salvador Dali, Alberto Giacometti. Elsa followed many of the Surrealism's ideals, crafting many imaginative and creative pieces.

Rob Pruitt and Jimmy Choo in 2012
In 2012, Jimmy Choo collaborated with contemporary artist Rob Pruitt, to create a capsule collection. The Pruitt and Choo duo created an energetic and bold collection that included the Cayla clutch, which had sprinkles on an ombré backdrop with a zebra pavé flap and a playful panda lining. Zebra-print lace up stilettos with tinges of reds, oranges, and yellows trailing up the heels and soles also found their way into this artsy lineup.
