Winnie the Pooh once told Piglet, “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.”
Recent studies (American Institute of Clinical Oncology) have tracked the social connections of women with breast cancer to survival rates. Women with 10 or more friends were four times more likely to survive their cancer than those fighting solo. What was tenfold more interesting though was that the study also showed that having a spouse did not show a survival benefit but having many friendships did.

You and I are more than friends. We’re like a really small gang.
Vogue might tell you that fringe with a touch of metallic overlay and leather appliqué is what is en-trend this season—but only your best friend can call you out on that. Debate all you want, search within the boy’s deep brown eyes for a reassuring answer—but no one’s response will be as gratifying as a simple thumbs up on WhatsApp from your most trusted girl in response to an OOTD selfie. We know you agree, so we’re not going to bother by asking you to sing yay or nay with us.

For the nights that turned into mornings with the friends that turned into family.
This one’s simple but it’s important. Holidays are mainly about one thing and that one thing is presents and no one gives better presents than your girlies. They’re the ones you tag lust-list worthy items on Instagram with the hearts-for-eyes emoji, they’re the ones you talk to when budgeting your monthly salary to make room for that sequinned twin-set you must, must have and they’re the only ones you want to take shaadi-shopping. They know the clothes you want to dare to wear and they know the ones that will actually flatter you. Conclusion: they make for the best present-pickers and the holidays are all about having the perfect present.

As we grow up, we realise that it’s less important to have lots of friends and more important to have a few real ones.
Holiday season dictates a social calendar filled with parties, birthdays, weddings and more parties. This means that the gel liner you’ve been waiting to bust out and those two-toned chunky heels will finally get their due. But what happens after you look your holiday best, bat those eyelids and take the mandatory bathroom selfie in which you actually look aaah-mazing? Are you seriously expected to post it yourself, giving your dignity a seriously beating? Sure #VanityNoApologies sounds nice as a hashtag—but let’s not kid ourselves, we would still way rather not do it. And this is the reason, my sweet little pigeons, why women rule the world. With a best friend in tow—she’ll be the one doing the posting and you can happily return the favour. That way, the whole world will know, comment and like how amazing you looked in that little red number and you don’t have to feel like a poser while at it. And who knows—maybe that super special friend will also make you a collage. #HeartMelt

That moment when you and your best friend can say one word and crack up
Your girlfriends are honestly the best people in your life. Studies have found that women have a much higher expectations of choosing their friends than men do. Women have a higher expectation of trust, loyalty, commitment, genuineness and acceptance. So, you’ve probably made the best decision about befriending your best-pal, which is why you need to make sure you’re close to them this holiday season!
