WHY WE LOVED THE BE BEAUTIFUL X 11:11 SHOW ON DAY 2
We at Be Beautiful have always aspired to be that girlfriend that updates you about the best of beauty and fashion and also tells you (quite honestly) how it’ll look on you. And yesterday, on Day 2 of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer Resort’ 16, we took a leap towards strengthening this friendship by presenting the 11:11 collection. Here are some highlights from the show…

The happy marriage between Indian textiles and contemporary designs

The organic and sustainable approach

Coming together of heritage textiles, artistry, ecological consciousness and contemporary designs all clubbed together, the 11:11 collection was custom designed to suit the modern aesthetics that demand all things hand-made and authentic.

Theatrics of the carefully curated show

The organic and sustainable approach

An unusual runway setup that depicted the backstage chaos at a fashion week with models taking turns to sit on either sides of the dresser; something rather theatrical and very much in sync with the organic, basic theme of the show.

Hair and makeup

The organic and sustainable approach

Hair was most interestingly kept half done to focus on the backstage theme. Make up was essentially all things summer with dewy cheeks, moist nude lids, green and tangerine lips all done by Virginia to suit the theme. Read more about the entire look here.

The word play

The organic and sustainable approach

It’s not all that often at a fashion show that the models and showstoppers get to voice themselves but here they did. Two liners by Sarah Jane Dias, Jas Sagu and others in between their walk were all about the basic nature of beauty.

And finally the most obvious takeaway from the show was its theme. Finding beauty in discarded arts, crafts and materials is the basic philosophy behind the sustainable Indian textiles day at LFW. And the 11:11 collection made in humble fabrics like organic cotton, khadi and natural dyeing advocated just that.
