An Evening In White

AN EVENING IN WHITE
Out with monochromatic. In with achromatic. Or so says the latest trend. Clean up the colour palette in your wardrobe this summer and hold on tight to the whitest of whites— that are also making a splash when it comes to eveningwear! We tell you how to carry it off.

Oh so fancy

White play

There’s nothing quite like an OTT all-white gown for a fancy soiree. Opt for one with interesting lace detailing at the hem and power shoulders. For that added élan, stash on a metallic belt to cinch the waist or opt for a dainty, vintage brooch.

Suit up

White play

Take your cue from luxe suits alá Angelia Jolie on the red carpet. Satin-esque tailored pantsuits that are crisp and sharp. Notch up your look with an embellished clutch and killer strappy stilettos (preferably in black or white).

The whole nine yards

White play

We know that a sari never goes out of style and this summer, we’re asking you to ditch the brocade and bling and go for an all white number. Play with textures such as a satin blouse and a flowy, georgette drape with sequin or applique detailing. It’s all the drama you need.

Lace and cutwork

White play

Here’s where edgy meets feminine. Laser cut textures and all lace on white are the trendiest ways to make your evening whites look fab. This looks works for a lazy Sunday brunch or even a bachelorette party. Check all the boxes in your ensemble by using the Lakmé Eyeconic White pencil to pretty up your eyes with the winged eyeliner look.

An all white playsuit is a great way to ring in that dash of fun. To add a dose of sexy, opt for a deep back romper in rich fabrics like satin and georgette that work great for the night. Remember, pair this ensemble with towering gladiator stilettoes or straight up high pumps—your whites will have never looked more powerful!

Changing my career to fashion at the age of 27 was a risk that I'm glad I took! I don't think there is any substitute for hard work. I can be overly shy and self conscious one day and feel like I can conquer the world the next. You have to try my caramel pudding and chicken soup and don't even dare playing charades with me—I'm super competitive. I love what I do and am always looking for a way to take it up a notch!
